DEC 2016 – PRESENT

Leadership. I have transformed the position into a true Chief Financial Officer and member of the National Executive Council, responsible for NFFE’s yearly budget and investment assets. By streamlining the tasks and responsibilities of the position I have been able to focus on getting the resources to the Local’s in a timely manner.

Stewardship. I take pride in the Secretary-Treasurer’s office maintaining a balanced budget and approved expenditures. Managing more than five hundred transactions and reconciling multiple accounts each month. Providing a yearly audit of all accounts to the membership and the International. During my term NFFE has completed all audits on time. My office has moved money into the investment account to save for NFFE’s rainy day fund. We are in a much stronger financial position than ever.

Compensation and Benefits. I make it a high priority to accurately and timely pay and provide benefits including retirement, healthcare and payroll management of 15-20 employees. In a cost saving measure, two healthcare insurance programs were consolidated into one plan with the IAM Benefit Trust Fund. Eliminating having to manage multiple systems and benefits plans with DC Health Link. Now all employees are in the IAM Benefit Trust Fund plan.

Regulatory Compliance. I coordinate with taxing authorities in several states and the the District of Columbia. Yearly reports to the Department of Labor, IRS and others have been completed on time for the past three years.

Membership Development. I create, maintain, and facilitate a comprehensive training curriculum at the William Winpisinger Technology Center for the membership four times a year. This program resulted in over four hundred members receiving training in the past three years. I develop course materials for each training session by obtaining public or private sector subject matter experts from various disciplines. The formal sessions are not the end of the training; coaching occurs with participants as opportunities arise. I coordinate with the IAM Government Employees Department and the Winpisinger Center on dates and materials for the Federal courses. I take pride in the outstanding evaluations the training program has received from participants.

Service. Service does not stop at NFFE’s door, I am also active in the larger community as a member of the Board of Directors and the audit committee of the Federal Employee Education and Assistance and as a member of the Employee Thrift Advisory Council of the Federal Retirement Thrift Investment Board.
